My son is literally the best kid a mother could ask for. He is kind and funny, a great helper, and he is learning to be more and more responsible everyday. Unfortunately, we haven't been able to get much time as a family, much less get to do something considerably fun for everybody. I was...am...very grateful that we had the opportunity to cut loose a bit and spend a little change on the big guy.
Willie and I got up early early Monday morning to load the sleeping kids into the car. They didn't wake up until we got into the city and William so so clueless that we were in Chicago. We visited old friends, the Berry's at their restaurant, Life, before having dinner together at a local Yard House.
We didn't let the little guy in on the secret until after dinner when we were checking in at the hotel. Staying at a hotel was at the top of his BDay wish list, He didn't necessarily care where, just a hotel stay where he could swim his heart out was all he was concerned about.
Ah, the swimming pool. Quick back story: I ordered a banging swimsuit nearly two weeks prior to the trip knowing that I was gonna pooch all week in my beautiful bigness, fresh long purple braids and toes, legs gleaming in the Chicago sunshine, Hontee, and you couldn't tell me nothing. It never made it in time. I had to grab one at a local Torrid just to make sure my fly was in tact. You know that bad boy cost bout $100, right? Forty percent off and still cost fifty damn dollars for each piece. Anywho, fast forward: I busted my whole ass into the pool like a bad punchline in funniest movie ever.
As the week rolled on I managed to hobble through several activities and meetups including Legoland and the Nintendo Tour Bus at Navy Pier as part of the surprise trip. Willie even got to connect with friends and family he hasn't seen in years. Everything was awesome. William was on cloud nine.
Even though I have to work tomorrow i'm going to make sure I get this last thing on his list, a wrestler cake, done and done. This guy deserves all that and so much more. For now this Mama is spent. Literally. I need to get me some more best friends who aren't broke.
"So, how's about we get to know each other?"
