.) After making my initial sketch for the body and the the handle on four sides I carefully cut out each piece, to have two of each.
.) Next, I arranged and paired the shapes to glue together. The spray adhesive didn't work very well for whatever reason so I used the super glue then stacked heavy books on it for a while for it to set.
.) Once set I applied masking take to hide the seam in the front.
.) I glued the handle down and then set it with books for a while as well.
.) Painted three coats of white paint on the front of the guitar and one coat on the back.
.) After the guitar complete dried I traced the designs on it in pencil before retracing with the black Sharpie.
.) I painted the "hole" in back before adding the grey and gold details.
.) When that was dry I cut the strap off of an old back pack, sewed the ends of it together to enclosed the strap into a circle where at least one of the adjustable straps would be available to use when he wore it.
.) I poked holes in the handle and base using a sewing needle and red thread. I stretched the the thread as tight as possible before taping the thread down on the back.
.) Cut the top off a baby sock or sew a measured loop (large enough to fit the backpack strap) together from larger ones. Super glue the loop to the back of the guitar. Open one of the adjustable loops then thread through the loop on the guitar. Reconnect the strap.
Voila! I just love how this guitar turned out! It took me all night and most of the morning, but it was well worth it. Did you do any Halloween DIY projects this year? Do you plan on making any creative decor for Thanksgiving? Lemme know in the comments below!
